【摘要】:Thistestmethodcanbeusedtomeasureandcomparethethermalprotectionprovidedbydifferentmaterials,garments,clothingensembles,andsystems.Thistestmethodprovidesameasurementofgarmentandclothingensembleperformanceonastationaryuprightmanikin.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtobeaqualityassurancetest.Theeffectsofbodypositionandmovementarenotaddressedinthistestmethod.Themeasurementofthethermalprotectionprovidedbyclothingiscomplexanddependentontheapparatusandtechniquesused.Itisnotpracticalinatestmethodofthisscopetoestablishdetailssufficienttocoverallcontingencies.Departuresfromtheinstructionsinthistestmethodmayleadtosignificantlydifferenttestresults.Technicalknowledgeconcerningthetheoryofheattransferandtestingpracticesisneededtoevaluateif,andwhich,departuresfromtheinstructionsgiveninthistestmethodaresignificant.Standardizationofthetestmethodreduces,butdoesnoteliminate,theneedforsuchtechnicalknowledge.Anydeparturesshouldbereportedwiththeresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversquantitativemeasurementsandsubjectiveobservationsthatcharacterizetheperformanceofsinglelayergarmentsorprotectiveclothingensemblesinasimulatedflashfireenvironmenthavingcontrolledheatflux,flamedistribution,andduration.Thistestmethodisextremelycomplexandrequiresahighdegreeoftechnicalexpertiseinboththetestsetupandoperation.1.1.1Heattransmittedtoeachsensorlocationonthesurfaceofaninstrumentedmanikinisconvertedtoshowthecorrespondingpredicteddegreeofburninjurytohumantissue.1.1.2Thesumofthesevaluescanthenbeconvertedtoapercentagetoshowthetotalareaofpredictedburninjury.1.1.2.1Useofthepredictedburninjurytoevaluatetheheattransferredtothemanikindoesnotconstituteamaterial''sperformancespecification.1.1.3Thevisualandphysicalchangestothesinglelayergarmentorprotectiveclothingensemblearerecordedtoaidinunderstandinghowtheburninjuryresultscanbeinterpreted.1.2Themeasurementsobtainedandobservationsnotedcanonlyapplytotheparticulargarment(s)orensemble(s)testedusingthespecifiedheatflux,duration,andflamedistribution.1.3Thisstandardshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefire-hazardorfire-riskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmaybeusedaselementsofafire-hazardassessmentorafire-riskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardorfireriskofaparticularenduse.1.4Thistestmethodisafire-test-responsetestmethod.1.5Thevaluesstatedincustomaryunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunits.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
